How to Upload a List of Contacts
1. Log in to your account and select Recipients from the top navigation menu. Click the drop-down arrow to select Import History.
2. On the next screen, click Import Recipients button and select Upload Formatted File or Upload Any File.
To upload formatted file (.csv or .xls file formats only)
1. If you selected Upload Formatted File, then directly below the title of the page you will find a link to download a template file for an example of how your list of contacts should look. Your file must be formatted as either a .cvs (comma-separated values) file or an .xls (Microsoft Excel) file. If you need help exporting a file from your current system, you will find a variety of export instructions here.
2. Drag and drop or click Browse to locate your properly formatted file on your computer.
3. Check the Ignore Duplicate Check box if you do not wish to have the system check for duplicate addresses. What happens if they do check the box and the system finds a duplicate address?
4. Use the Select Group drop-down box to choose the group to which you want to add your list of contacts or to create a new group. The entire uploaded list of contacts will be saved to the same group.
5. Click the Next button in the top-right corner.
6. To quality check for accuracy, match the columns in your uploaded file to the contact fields you see on this screen. In the Import column, you can select or deselect the items you want to add or leave out of the import. Any items marked in red require an action before your list of contacts will upload.
7. Click the Finish button in the top-right corner. You’ll be taken to the Import History page where your list of contacts will process. Depending on the size of your list, this may take several minutes. You may navigate to other pages during this time.
8. You can monitor the status of your list on the Import History page:
- Processing: Currently processing a list.
- Complete: List has completed processing and recipients are in your Recipient Groups.
- Partial: Some recipients in your list were not imported due to errors.
- Failed: The list failed due to errors. Check the format and try again.
9. When your list has finished processing, you will receive a red-dot notification on the bell icon that you will see in the top-right corner of every page in the system.
To upload any file
1. If you selected Upload Formatted File, you may choose to upload any type of file (even a photo of a handwritten list!) and we’ll create a properly formatted list of contacts for you within one business day.
2. Drag and drop or click Browse to locate your file on your computer.
3. Click the Submit button in the top-right corner. You’ll be taken to the Import History page where your list of contacts will process. Please allow one business day for your list of contacts to process.
4. You can monitor the status of your list on the Import History page:
- Processing: Currently processing a list.
- Complete: List has completed processing and recipients are in your Recipient Groups.
- Partial: Some recipients in your list were not imported due to errors.
- Failed: The list failed due to errors. Check the format and try again.
5. When your list has finished processing, you will receive a red-dot notification on the bell icon that you will see in the top-right corner of every page in the system.
